Description
"Peter's art show is different than many prison art shows in the fact that it has not been organized with groups that work in unison with or get funding from the Correctional Service of Canada. Because CSC funds these art shows, they undoubtedly have an immense influence on what would be selected. The only reason that CSC promotes such art shows, is for their own propaganda. There are many restrictions involving the selling of prisoners' artwork, in spite of CCRA/CCRR legislation. Prisoners are only allowed to sell their artwork to people on the prisoner's visiting list, prison authorities. This contravenes the CCRA/CCRR legislation which allows prisoners to sell their artwork to anybody in Canada. Peter's art as been - and still is - censored by prison authorities. Yet with an independent art show, Peter has had the freedom of choosing which pieces of his art will be displayed or not....." "In the following pages is a brief personal account about and written by Peter Collins. Peter's life story will hopefully allow us to look upon prisoners and the prison system differently. His story is personal and also political - an inside look at one prisoner's life."
