Description
From the inside: "The Victory Gardens Project (VGP) is based in Athens, Maine, a small town of 750 people, most of whom are white working class folks. With a collective core group of seven people and volunteers coming to Maine during the growing season, the VGP grows over three tons of organic vegetables every year. These vegetables are distributed totally free to people in Athens during the growing season and to urban and rural communities throughout the East Coast once a year.....The Victory Gardens Project practices its politics in a daily way. It's rooted in a class and race analysis that identifies institutions of power and struggles for liberation....The inspiration for the Victory Gardens Project comes from the Black Panther Party's community survival programs."
