Defending the Earth brings together two of the main protagonists in the heated deep vs. social ecology debate. Growing out of a joint public meeting sponsored by the Learning Alliance, this book provides an important answer to the question, "Whither the radical ecology movement?" In it, longtime eco-philosopher Murray Bookchin and Earth First co-founder Dave Foreman seek common ground and cooperatively explore their differing, though often overlapping, perspectives on a wide range of issues: environmental ethics, social justice, nature philosophy, and the best strategies for radical ecological activism.
